Something in a Terrain by Emily De Silva
there used to be a time
a time when you were happy
living the life of a child
a child having fun
having fun in the sun
in the sun and in the night
until one day—
everything changed
Everything Changed.
you never knew what went wrong
but wrong it went
the only option you saw
was read. escape.
escape because your life was
out of control
there was no fixing it
for you had tried
And Failed.
so you ran away
led your mind to another reality
a desired reality
one after the next
of fiction and of fantasy
pretty petty romance
and maybe even horror too
all to get a smile
You Loved It.
‘till your self went numb
such iciness cooling your wounds
on autopilot evermore
your feet acting with no command
your hands swiping, flipping pages
running from demand
without conscious thought
your mind sedated to
The Blade.
but sooner or later—
you had to wake up
you had to return
to the heartache
and disease
return to the screaming
when you could not scream
for this world you live in, you became
Something In A Terrain.
by mind, by body, by soul
the demons had
awoken
had done so and so
every night and day
giving some seas curses
and racked dismay
with no remorse
But That Isn’t All.
the demons say
live life blindly; so it’s
unwanted
without chance to prepare
for the worst
of days, possibilities
